Your Chart Is a Map, Not a Verdict: Reflections From the Pure Heart Podcast

15 September 2026

I recently joined the Pure Heart Podcast again, this time to talk about astrology, and specifically about why I think a natal chart gets misunderstood on both sides, dismissed as superstition by some, and treated as fate by others.

You can hear the full conversation here: Your Chart Is a Map, Not a Verdict. What follows are some of my own reflections on the theme, not a transcript of what was said.

The Title Is the Thesis

A natal chart is a map of the sky at the exact moment and place you were born, the positions of the planets and the angles they make to each other. That's not a verdict on who you are. It's a map of terrain, and a good map doesn't tell you what will happen, it shows you where the mountains sit, where the rivers run, where the ground opens up. What you do with that is still yours.

A Mirror, Not a Prison

The most common fear people bring to a reading is some version of: what if it says something bad about me? In my experience, a chart doesn't really contain bad news. It contains information. The same placement that reads as a liability from one angle often reads as a genuine gift from another, and is usually some version of both, depending on how it's actually being lived.

Why Timing Matters More Than People Expect

We're not the same person we were ten years ago, and a chart has a time dimension too, transits, progressions, the way different parts of it activate across a life. Something that felt like a life sentence in your twenties can read as clarity by your forties. Part of what a chart offers is a sense of where you are in your own cycle, not just a fixed description of who you are.

What a Reading From Me Actually Includes

A natal chart reading with me is written, a PDF you can come back to more than once. It isn't a list of predictions. It's closer to an exploration of the chart's central, recurring themes, the tensions that look structural rather than situational, and the places the chart points to that you may already have been sensing yourself.

You don't need to know anything about astrology going in. All I need from you is a birth date, time, and place. If this is calling, you can order a natal chart report here, delivered worldwide. For more on what's actually in the report, see what's actually in a natal chart reading.
